Esnara: Saturday Strawberry Festival

THE 2019 Strawberry Festival Main program was successfully conducted last Monday, March 18, at the La Trinidad Municipal Gymnasium after a long line of civic parade participants from various offices, schools, organizations, and private agencies. Thank you for your participation and support to the celebration and congratulations to the committee in-charge during the whole day celebration.

The next major event will be on Saturday, March 23, 2019. On that day will be the non-motorized float parade simultaneous with street dancing in the morning. I know it will cause traffic (again) because the entire Highway from KM5 to KM6 will be totally closed. But, the alternate route from Buyagan-Puguis-Pico will be open.

Traffic “manen” indeed! But look for the silver lining in it, as said by miss universe Catriona. This only happens once a year. And, to maximize the closure, aside from the celebration of the strawberry festival, the floats are smoke-free, motor-free. Meaning, we are giving the main road (from KM5 to KM6) a rest from the smoke emitted by the motor vehicles every day. Aside from that, some floats will be showcasing recycled materials which should not contribute to additional garbage in town.

But again, in celebrations like these, you have to be always vigilant when planning to attend. Firstly, be healthy. There will be no shades in the road and you will be exposed to sunlight. Then, make sure you have food and water with you, or a water container, at least, to fetch water in the designated water stations, when thirsty.

Just after the Parade of Floats will be the partaking of the Giant Strawberry Cake inside the Municipal Hall. Yes. They will be baking a cake, not as big as the World Guinness Record Holder, but almost, and sell it to the public. A cake as good and big as this is only showcased once in a while. So grab your chance on Saturday. Buy your tickets now which is sold at the La Trinidad Municipal Hall only.

The viewing and buying of a slice of the cake will have to be orderly, so, don’t worry. The line for it will be done at the Municipal Gymnasium, (and you should be seated). So as long as you will be patient and you have a ticket, you shall be able to see the 2019 strawberry cake, have a picture with it, and taste a slice or more, depending on how many tickets you have.

And Saturday will not end there because in the afternoon will be the Search for Mr and Ms La Trinidad 2019 pageant. This will be at the CCDC Gymnasium at Buyagan, La Trinidad at 4:00PM. My advice to those who want to watch: Go to the gym early because the security will not allow standing audience while the show is on-going. Understand that the pageant is a night event and your safety is a priority. Bring your food and water too, because, the pageant will most likely run for at least four hours.

Whenever you attend any event anywhere, always know where are the safety points in that area; Emergency Exits, Fire extinguishers, Water Stations, First aid stations and/or First aid kits. Make this a habit, and your attendance to any event should be safe.
