AMID the economic and real estate progress of Davao City, the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders’ Associations, Inc. (Creba) Davao City is helping broker-members level up their skills and knowledge.
On the sidelines of the Anchor Land Holdings Business Forum held Wednesday, March 20, at Marco Polo Hotel Davao, Creba Davao Chapter president Chai Abaya shared that in line with the fast-paced development of real estate in the city is their preparation to improve their brokers as well.
“We make sure that our members really follow rules and laws in terms of being licensed, being equipped with the adequate knowledge, and being professional when dealing with clients,” Abaya said.
In order to produce brokers who are well-rounded in the industry, not only with selling, she said Creba Davao Chapter organizers seminars for brokers specifically for licensing, taxing, fire safety, and earth day celebrations among others. Abaya added in seminars like these they see to it that they partner with local government agencies.
“Our focus now is instilling on the minds of our real estate brokers the benefits and the features that Davao City has that would make it a good idea to invest here. We want our brokers to learn the yield of investments of the buyers. In that way, they do not just sell for the sake of commission. They sell from the heart. They sell with full understanding of the property they are selling,” she said.
“We always tell them, sell as if you’re the one buying,” Abaya added.
Creba has more than 150 members in Davao City alone.

Meanwhile, the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) continues to encourage individuals and accommodation facility owners to register their businesses and rented out units.
According to CTOO head Generose Tecson, this helps the local government can better promote these facilities to tourists especially during peak seasons such as Araw ng Dabaw and Kadayawan festival.
In the same way, security will be better monitored.
Abaya said Creba fully supports this endeavor saying that both the security and the pricing of the rented-out properties will be properly monitored.
She added that the ideal way of renting out spaces, even condominium units, should be through licensed brokers just so the proper negotiations and security will be assured of.
