DA to allocate P150M worth of projects for San Fernando

THE Department of Agriculture (DA) is allocating P150 million for the construction of farm-to-market roads and other projects for three barangays in San Fernando town.

In her letter to DA-Central Visayas Director Salvador Diputado, DA Farm-to-Market Road Development Program (FMRDP) assistant chief Romirose Padin confirmed that they endorsed the request of San Fernando Mayor Lakambini Reluya for the implementation of the project.

Aside from concreting and developing farm-to-market roads, the DA will use the P150 million for the installation of solar lamp street lights in Barangays Greenhills, Lantawan and Liburon.

Following the DA's approval, the agency is set to conduct validation, geotagging and submission of relevant information to help in its evaluation of the proposed project.

In a statement, Reluya thanked Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol for immediately taking action to her request.

She believes the project will benefit a lot of residents, farmers and traders in her town, especially those situated in the mountain barangays.

“These infrastructure projects will complement the P358-million national government-funded San Fernando roll-on roll-off port project in Barangay South Poblacion that stands to generate income for the municipality, increases trade and commerce and provides employment and livelihood opportunities for the people of San Fernando,” Reluya said in a statement.
