PDEA seizes P3.4-M marijuana in Toledo City

MARIJUANA plants worth P3.4 million were seized by law enforcement agencies in two plantations in Toledo City on Thursday, March 21.

Joint operatives led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas discovered the marijuana plantations in Barangay Tungkay and General Climaco in the southwestern Cebu city around 6 a.m. Thursday.

Around 10,000 fully grown marijuana plants were recovered and eventually destroyed by the apprehending team led by PDEA.

Aside from PDEA, operatives from the Toledo City Police Station, Naval Intelligence Service Group, and Naval Special Operations Group of the Naval Forces Central (Navforcen) also joined the operations.

No one was arrested.

Cultivation and use of marijuana in the country remains illegal as mandated by the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
