Negosyo Centers eyed in 13 towns

THE Department of Trade and Industry seeks to establish a Negosyo Center in every Benguet town.

DTI Benguet Provincial Director Freda Gawisan said there are only seven Negosyo Centers in Benguet, including one in Baguio City.

The towns where a Negosyo Center has been opened are Mankayan, Tuba, Tublay, Itogon, Kibungan, Kabayan, and La Trinidad.

“What is good is Benguet province has more than 50 percent with Negosyo Centers. What we are doing now through inter-agency council composed of different line agencies, we are promoting the utilization of Negosyo Centers for centralized government services because even if (Negosyo Centers) is established by DTI, it is a government center supported by the local government unit,” Gawisan said.

She added the presence of information cabinets of the various line agencies and DTI can be availed of by the same clients.

Negosyo Centers provide assistance to barangay micro business enterprise such as processing of business name applications, implement capacity building programs, and conduct managerial and entrepreneurial skills training.

Gawisan said that in every town, business counselors are present to manage and operate the center.

With the establishment of different Negosyo Centers in the province, there is a possibility that business name registrationwill increase, Gawisan added.

A total of 6,000 business names have been registered in these centers, higher than the 4,000 to 5,000 in previous years.
