BAGO City joined the global celebration of the International Day of the Forest on March 21.

This year’s theme is “Forest and Education,” which aims to raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests.

To celebrate the occasion, Bago City’s Community Environment and Natural Resources Office, through office head Joan Gerangaya, conducted a Forest Fire Prevention Training at Wasay Ranger Station in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

Senior Fire Officer Julius Jovia of the Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal - Bureau of Fire Protection was the event’s resource speaker.

This training aims to capacitate the enforcement workforce and the upland partners, through the Kanlaon Green Brigade and the people’s organizations, in preventing and fighting any untoward forest fire toward the restoration and preservation of the province’s forest land. (PR)
