MICHAEL Dasmarinas earned the mandatory status in the International Federation (IBF) bantamweight division after a unanimous decision win over Cebu-based Kenny Demecillo in a title eliminator on March 23 at the Resorts World in Manila.
Dasmarinas won it in the eyes of the three judges with scores of 115-113, 116-112 and 117-111.
Dasmarinas is now the number 1 contender and has the right to fight for the IBF belt, which currently is in the hands of Emmanuel Rodriguez.
Dasmarinas improved to 29-2-1 with 19 knockouts, while Demecillo dropped to 14-5-2 with eight knockouts. (EKA)
