ANGELES City's first and only five-term local chief executive, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, has been named by Superbrands Marketing International (SMI) as the 2019 Most Outstanding Mayor (MOMA) of the Philippines.

The award was accorded to Pamintuan during a ceremony held on Friday, March 22 at the Alphaland Hotel in Makati City. This is the sixth MOMA of Mayor Pamintuan following his five-time winning streak in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Former city communications officer and Partido Abe Kapampangan (PAK) official candidate for councilor, Jose "Kuya Jay" Pelayo IV, received the award in behalf of the city mayor who is presiding the 11th Full Council Meeting of the Regional Development Council (RDC)-Central Luzon on the same day.

Pamintuan, who is also the national president of the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) and chairman of the RDC-Central Luzon, expressed his gratitude to SMI for recognizing his leadership, service, and his administration's legacies to the city and its people.

"This accolade is a wonderful feat as I am about to end my term as the city mayor of Angeles. It is an affirmation that we have been stern in our commitment in bringing Angeles back to the roster of outstanding LGUs with excellent administration," Pamintuan said.

"In the same way, I would like to share this award to the AngeleƱos and to our partners in the private sector for painstakingly helping the city government realize its goals," the mayor added.

MOMA aims to recognize the authority and efficacy of the mayors who have served their constituents with competence, and integrity with sensitivity to address right and wrong.

The award was formally handed over to Pelayo by SMI chairman Karl McLean and SMI president and chief executive officer Harry Tambuatco. A total of 25 local chief executives from across the country received their respective MOMA. (PR)
