3 dead, 4 injured in Bataan road mishap

THREE people died and four others were seriously injured when their car sideswiped an Isuzu truck and collided with an oil tanker along the Roman Highway in Abucay, Bataan over the weekend.

Authorities identified the fatalities as Ronnie Benavidez, 52, and wife Analin, 49, and Analin’s sister Blanca Mendoza, 30.

They expired while undergoing treatment at the Bataan General Hospital, police said.

Seriously injured were Romeo Mendoza, 70, car driver and Analin’s brother; Karlyn Mendoza, 10, daughter of Blanca; and Renz Balladurez, 2, godson of one of the car occupants.

Roxanne Benavidez, 21, was confined at the said hospital but is already out of danger, police added.

All are residents of Barangay Landing in Limay, Bataan and were on their way to visit relatives in Orani town.

The victims were on board a Mitsubishi Mirage, which crossed to the outer lane of the road to the fast lane and hit the front portion of the Isuzu truck traveling in the same direction.

The driver of the car lost control of the steering wheel and swerved to the opposite lane hitting the oncoming oil tanker.

The car was a total wreck after hitting the oil tanker, authorities said.

The drivers of the oil tanker and the Isuzu truck were not hurt. They were brought to the Abucay police station for proper disposition. (Ric Sapnu)
