THE Philippine society, despite efforts from different organizations to promote equality between sexes, still remained from the traditional thinking of patriarchy. Women are considered weak, inferior, and can only excel at fields not involving science, technology, and law.
People blame the victim whenever a news report is published bearing the context of rape or sexual assault, especially if the victim is a woman, often asking questions on what clothes was the victim wearing. Why can’t people see that the real issue here is not about the article of clothing worn but the respect women should get without asking?
Women should be able to do the things that they want without fear of judgement the same way men do and that there should be a collective action to achieve this kind of environment.
