Basak officials nabbed in gun raid

A VILLAGE chief and councilman of Barangay Basak, Cauayan, Negros Occidental were arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in separate operations on Monday afternoon, March 25.

Arrested were Teodorico Dulla, village chief of Barangay Basak, and his councilman Kevin Dulla.

The operation was conducted by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Western Visayas by virtue of a search warrant.

The operatives raided the house of Teodorico at 12:30 p.m. by virtue of search warrant issued by Judge Conrado Estreller Jr. of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities of Cauayan.

Police records showed that upon sensing the presence of CIDG operatives, Teodorico went out of his house armed with an M16 rifle. Faced with imminent danger, operatives shot the suspect, hitting him in his left arm. He was brought to a hospital.

Police recovered from Teodorico’s possession the M16 rifle, 180 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, four short magazine for M16, four long magazine for M16, a 12-gauge shotgun, a caliber 9mm with 28 rounds of ammunition, and two pieces magazine for caliber 9mm, and three pieces of bandolier.

At about 2:30 p.m., the operatives also raided the house of Teodorico’s relative, Kevin, by virtue of another search warrant issued by Judge Estreller.

Police recovered from Kevin’s possession a 12-gauge shotgun, five pieces of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition and 25 rounds of 5.56 ammunition.

The suspects are now at the custody of CIDG- Western Visayas.
