7 arrested for illegal drugs in Cordillera

SEVEN individuals were collared for possession of illegal drugs in separate buy bust operations in the Cordillera region.

Joint operatives of the Baguio City Police Office Drug Enforcement Unit (BCPO-CDEU), BCPO Station 2, and City Intelligence Unit (CIU), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera (PDEA-CAR) arrested George Lagitaw del Rosario, 35, single, in East Quirino Hill Monday morning, March 25, after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu, or methamphetamine hydrochloride, to one of the police operatives who acted as buyers.

Seized from Del Rosario during the operation were three heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a cellphone, P500 cash, P19,000 boodle money and assorted drug paraphernalia.

In Abra Province, Bucay police arrested suspected drug offender Perfecto Paligutan Barbosa Jr. aka. Jun-jun on March 26 in Barangay San Miguel.

Barbosa, a construction worker, was on board a tricycle traveling from Bangued when he was flagged down by the police.

Police recovered from his possession a cell phone with one heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu.

In Ifugao, Banaue, police arrested three men for possession of marijuana leaves in Sitio Baag, Tam-an Sunday morning, March 25.

The suspects were identified as Michael Mercado Perez, 42; Mike Galunio Montinola, 38; and Erickson Garlitos Estanislao, 40.

Police had responded to an alarm over a vehicular accident that involved the pick-up truck of the suspects.

While conducting investigation, the police saw five packs of dried marijuana leaves wrapped in transparent cellophane inside the vehicle.
