FORMER special assistant to the President and senatorial candidate Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go revealed billions worth of projects for Negros Occidental under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Negros Occidental will have an equal share of projects for Western Visayas.

In a press conference at Stone Hill Tuesday, March 26, Go, who is among the senatorial candidates of Hugpong Ng Pagbabago chaired by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, also assured that Negros is close to the President’s heart.

Among the projects for Negros, which Go said are under Duterte’s Build Build Build program, is the Bacolod-Silay International Project worth P152 million, which will be funded by the Department of Transportation, for the improvement of the existing Bacolod-Silay International Airport facilities to support safe aircraft operation and increase traffic.

There is also the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway, which is a 21.3-kilometer four-way road including three bridges and two-way bike lane that would serve as an alternate circumferential road bypassing the Bacolod City Central business district.

Another project is the Panay-Guimaras-Negros Island Bridge Project. It's a P27.1 billion 16-kilometer bridge project that will stretch from Iloilo to Negros Occidental.

Other projects include farm-to-market roads in Cadiz City, Manapla, Sagay City, Talisay City, Murcia, Pontevedra, La Carlota City, Valladolid, La Castellana, Himamaylan City; and road network plan for Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental worth P11 billion: 772-kilometer core road networks for high-value crops, fisheries, coconut, livestock, poultry and tourism which stretches across the three districts of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.

Earlier this month, Duterte also headed the distribution certificates of land ownership award. There was also a turnover of evacuation center from the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Office of the Civil Defense.

"The President is not so well versed in micro management, so what is intended for Region 6 and what is due to the people of Negros Occidental... The Negrenses will have an equal share of projects," Go added.*
