Zamboanga City deploys water tankers

THE Zamboanga City Government has deployed water tankers and lorries to supply water to residents in elevated areas amid the dry spell.

Elmeir Jade Apolinario, head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), said the move is aimed at alleviating the plight of the residents who are affected by the rationing of water supply.

Apolinario said the water tankers will supply water daily through hydrant injection in Lumbangan and Sitio Tala, Boalan.

Water tankers are also deployed to Kalambuan in the village of Maasin and to Canelar and Mampang every other day.

The city council and Zamboanga City Medical Center are being supplied every other day as requested.

The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) has been rationing water to be able to serve its thousands of concessionaires.

Some areas get water for eight hours every other day while others get less than eight hours every other day.

The water rationing took effect when the water level at the diversion dam of the ZCWD fell below the normal level of 74.20 meters. (Bong Garcia)
