Council approves 300 hectare reclamation in Bacolod City

THE Bacolod City Council approved the request for resolution of no objection (Rono) of the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) to reclaim an additional of 300 of foreshore land in the city.

The Rono, which was approved during the regular session on Wednesday, March 27, was requested by Bredco president John Alonte.

Those who voted in favor of the request were Councilors Caesar Distrito, Em Ang, Cindy Rojas, Dindo Ramos, Bartolome Orola, Ana Marie Palermo, Elmer Sy, Sonya Verdeflor, Ayesha Villaflor, Lady Gles Gonzales and Wilson Gamboa Jr.

Councilor Renecito Novero and Claudio Puentevella were out of the session hall.

Councilor Ricardo Tan was on leave.

Alonte earlier said that they will invest about P24 billion to reclaim an additional of 300 hectares of foreshore land in the area.

Alonte said that this will be Phase 2 of the reclamation project in the city.

“Bredco already reclaimed 250 hectares. This (300 hectares) will be an additional or the Phase 2 of the reclamation project,” he said.

Bredco is also waiting for the Implementing Rules and Regulations from the Philippine Reclamation Authority.

“Once we have the templates, we will follow because the company is really serious in terms of reclaiming more properties here,” Alonte said.

This project is expected to be completed in a year or two.
