Pampanga peace council forms subcommittees

THE Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) chaired by Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda recently approved a resolution creating the PPOC sub-committees on anti-illegal drugs, intelligence, investigation, insurgency, and reformation.

“We formed this committees to intensify our campaign for peace and order especially our fight against illegal drugs,” the governor said.

Governor Pineda said these special action committees were formed to address the immediate issues on peace and order and public safety, in case of emergencies.

The lady governor said that the primary thrust of her administration is to strengthen the peace and order in the province, particularly in the areas of internal security, criminality, and anti-illegal drugs campaign, as a solid foundation for a stable and progressive economy.

She said the creation of the sub-committees is also in line with the campaign of the Duterte administration on the eradication of the use and proliferation of illegal drugs to further the war against the drug menace.

The PPOC recognizes that the problem on insurgency, internal disturbances and tensions, and other armed conflicts are among the main threats in achieving an inclusive and sustainable peace in the country.

To help in the proper handling of organization of information and intelligence, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Health Office, Integrated Bar of the Philippines, SK Federation Provincial President, and Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial Federation President were formed part of the subcommittee on anti-illegal drugs.

The subcommittee on intelligence and investigation is composed of the Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and Public Attorney’s Office.

The members of the subcommittee on insurgency and reformation include the AFP, PNP, PSWDO, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. (PR)
