Angeles City observes Fire Prevention Month

THE City Government of Angles City headed by Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)- Angeles City have slated activities in line with the observance of the nationwide Fire Prevention Month.

With the theme, “Ligtas na Pilipinas ating Kamtin, Bawat Pamilya ay Sanayin, Kaalaman sa Sunog ay Palawakin,” various events and information campaigns are targeted to widen the knowledge of households and even business establishments on fire safety.

This year, BFP- Angeles started implementing the “Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan.” According to Angeles City Fire Marshall Sonny Cario, BFP will have four approaches in implementing this campaign in promoting fire safety. These approaches include: Handang Pamayanan Program, Bayanihan, Kaagapay and Lingap Program.

BFP also conducts house to house visits on communities inside Angeles City to assess households for possible fire hazards. BFP is also coming up with a community fire action plan and fire auxiliary group to intensify the agency’s operation.

Cario also added that BFP will also implement stern surveillance of high risk barangays particularly those which are highly-populated and congested.

The Fire Prevention Month commenced last March 1 through a regional kick-off ceremony in Bataan.

BFP also held a fire expo on Saturday, March 23, at SM City Pampanga, which serves as a workshop for children on how they can prevent fires and perform first aid.

The observance of the Fire Prevention Month will be capped through a Fire Prevention Color Run slated on March 30, 2019 in Clark Global City. (AC-CIO with reports from HAU Intern Zyrell Ramos)
