THE Department of Education (DepEd) recently recognized the Aboitiz Group’s outstanding contribution in pursuing the development of basic quality education in the Philippines.

Seventeen Aboitiz business units and two foundations received certificates of appreciation during the DepEd’s Partners’ Appreciation ceremony held in Pasig City for their long-standing commitment to promoting education and collaboration under the Adopt-A-School Program (ASP).

DepEd praised AboitizLand, Aboitiz Foundation, CitySavings, Cotabato Light, Davao Light, Hedcor, Hedcor Sibulan, Hedcor Davao, Pilmico, Pilmico Animal Nutrition, TMI (Therma Marine) Maco, TMI Nasipit, TMO (Therma Mobile), Luzon Hydro, AP Renewables Inc. (APRI)-MakBan, APRI-Tiwi, Therma Luzon, Veco and WeatherPhilippines.

“Thank you very much to the Aboitiz Group for your generosity and support and continued interest in education. We truly appreciate your assistance all these years and your contribution to the vast improvements in education,” DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said.

Aboitiz Foundation first vice president and chief operating officer Maribeth Marasigan, who led the Aboitiz delegation, said they will always partner with the DepEd.

“We have always been grateful to partner with DepEd in our commitment to bridge quality education to employment. We in the Aboitiz Group continuously find ways to keep this partnership alive and effective by carefully looking for strategic points of collaboration. We are happy to witness great results through the successes of our scholars, students, teachers and schools that we empower,” she said.

The Aboitiz Group’s support to DepEd through ASP is part of its strategies in advancing business and communities by co-creating safe, empowered and sustainable communities. The Aboitiz Foundation, in partnership with other Aboitiz business units, developed technical vocational high schools and science elementary schools, rewired classrooms and provided college scholarships.

Through DepEd’s ASP, the Aboitiz Group was able to contribute in addressing immediate educational needs, raising critical resources and promoting worthwhile investments in the nation-building.

DepEd’s partnership with the private sector works toward educating Filipinos and providing access to holistic and inclusive quality education nationwide.
