Reluya insists anti-drug council 'functional'

SAN Fernando, Cebu Mayor Lakambini Neneth Reluya convened jointly the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) and Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) at the Office of the Mayor Thursday, March 28.

Captain Lymel Pasquin, San Fernando police chief presented the peace and order and drug situation of the municipality.

Reluya presented voluminous documentation of anti-drug abuse plans of action; projects, activities, accomplishments and anti-drug campaign-related awards received by the LGU and barangays.

Reluya together with Toledo City Mayor John Henry Osmena and San Francisco Mayor Aly Arquillano were charged for their poor anti-drug councils.

Neil Papas, Reluya's consultant, underscored the Madac's six functionality indicators with the corresponding points of each indicator under DILG-DDB Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2018-1.

Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Susan olentino discussed how the San Fernando Madac fared vis-a-vis the functionality indicators.

Reluya took full responsibility of the town's Madac's low functionality rating.

But she went further tracing how the Madac got low scores when she has all these documents to prove that it is functioning very well.

The mayor found out that these documents and reports, which serve as means of verification, did not reach DILG.

Reluya announced that she will write DILG on the matter.

Unusually fiery, the mayor warned department heads, officers and workers not to jeopardize her administration or she will be forced to take drastic actions.

The mayor informed the body about what President Duterte told her when her hand was raised denoting the President's endorsement on her candidacy for mayor of San Fernando.(JKV)
