Pangan: Striving for excellence

BARANGAY Dapdap, which includes the densely-populated Madapdap Resettlement in Mabalacat City and headed by its hardworking and resourceful Barangay Chairman Javier P. Taruc, was awarded a Certificate of Recognition on March 25, 2019 by Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo for being the first LGU in Pampanga to be issued by Tesda with a Certificate of TVET program registration and the first to provide short-term trainings to the under privileged residents of the community and the city.

Dapdap, which ranks high in the income-generation totem pole of the city, next to Barangays Dau and Sapang Biabas, is continuously improving in terms of economic growth. It is home to various settlers coming from different parts of Pampanga who we uprooted by the eruptions of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991. It hosts people of various culture, dialects and orientation which makes it an exciting place to live in.

There are several big commercial establishments in the area and many small to medium enterprises. It also hosts some government agencies and health and educational institutions such as the Mabalacat City College-Dapdap Branch.

The soon-to-be concluded International Pyro musical competition in SM Clark has brought a lot of entertainment to people who flocked to this mall on four Saturdays of March 2019.

Thanks go to mall manager Andrea Madlangbayan, AMM Ronald Abrazado, PR officer Venus Manalang and, of course, AVP Junias Eusebio and also to Joel Sta. Ana of Platinum Fireworks for accommodating me and my family on those saturdays of good clean entertainment.

Mr. Rosan S. Paquia, ESQ, city administrator of Mabalacat City and concurrent CPDC head, reacted sharply to my column entitled Disrespecting the SP. He said the executive department fully respects the SP and its officers as a matter of basic departmental courtesy.

In the said column, I was referring to private persons who were invited by the committee chairman to attend hearings on matters of public interests but chose to ignore the invitation, sometimes repeatedly without extending excuse or apology or plain explanation for their absence.
