“We expect a lot from you. You, above all, should abide by the law.”

This was the appeal of Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda as he encouraged some 5,490 barangay officials Wednesday, March 27, to keep the upcoming May 13 midterm elections peaceful.

The vice governor believes that as servant leaders, they should be the catalysts of fair and honest elections.

“You should be good examples in your communities,” Pineda said.

For Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, the vice governor’s mother, unity among officials could greatly contribute to the success of the upcoming elections.

Acting Provincial Election Supervisor Fernando F. Cot-Om discussed the implementing election laws, rules, and regulations.

Cot-Om stressed that “all barangay officials (both elected and appointed) and Bantay Bayan officers are prohibited to participate in any campaign activity.”

Police Major Efren David Jr., chief of the Pampanga Community Affairs Development Branch of the Pampanga police, assured that the police will help ensure peace and order.

“We also expect coordination from the barangay officials in fulfilling our mandate of upholding peaceful and orderly elections,” he said. (PR)
