FOUR firemen were injured when the truck they were riding fell into a ravine while responding to a call in Zamboanga del Norte province, the police said Friday, March 29.
Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident happened at 11:52 a.m. Thursday in Nonoyan village, Baliguian town.
Galvez identified the victims as Fire Officer 1 (FO1) Paul Syric Lim, driver of the fire truck; FO1 James Sabaricos; FO1 Leo Selecio; and, a certain FO1 Balingit.
She said investigation showed the fire truck fell into a ravine when Lim lost control of the steering after the vehicle’s brake malfunctioned and overshot on a downhill curved road.
She said the firemen were responding to a vehicular fire incident when they fell into the ravine.
She said they were brought to Siocon District Hospital and Baliguian Rural Health Unit by the responding policemen. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
