Iloilo City Hall offers free sports clinic

THE Iloilo City Sports Division is offering free summer sports clinic to elementary pupils below 13 years old starting April 8 to 14.

There are 14 sports disciplines, including arnis, chess, football, tennis, karatedo, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, basketball, wushu, futsal, badminton, dancesport, and pencak silat.

“This is City Government’s way of promoting various sports because we know that children are very active and want to try many sports,” Mayor Jose Espinosa III said.

“As part of the Pag-ulikid Program, we want children to be engaged in sports for them to enjoy their summer vacation. This will help them build self-confidence, be healthy, and will teach them to be more friendly,” Espinosa added.

City Sports Division officer-in-charge Moises Salomon Jr. said each pupil is allowed to join four to five sports disciplines.

“This summer sports clinic is also our way of identifying kids who have potentials in respective sports discipline. And at the same time, we will also award top pupils who excel in each sport discipline during the culminating ceremony,” Salomon said.
