7 drivers test positive of drugs

CEBU. Seven out of 174 drivers tested positive in a the random drug test conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas in three major terminals in Cebu City on Friday, March 29.

IN A confirmatory test, seven out of 174 drivers tested positive of drug use during the random drug test conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas in three major terminals in Cebu City on Friday, March 29.

Six jeepney drivers and a van-for-hire driver turned out positive for drug use during Oplan Harabas, or the drug testing of public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers.

The initial results from the random drug test was subjected to a confirmatory test.

Oplan Harabas is jointly conducted with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation, Franchising and Regulatory Board and the Philippine National Police.

PDEA-Central Visayas subjected 69 drivers at the Kamagayan Terminal, 50 drivers at the North Bus Terminal and 55 drivers at the Ayala PUV Terminal to random drug tests on Friday morning.

The names of those who tested positive were forwarded to the LTO for appropriate action.
