Kafagway MMA makes waves in VFC

PROMISING fighters from Kafagway Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) took home two victories as they continue their rise in the local mixed martial arts scene during the Valiant Fighting Championship 3 held in Quezon City last week.

Female fighter Odalve Santiago of Sablan National High School Kafagway Combative Club took home the win via a technical knockout via referee stoppage due to strikes against her opponent in the second round.

Santiago, an 18–year-old who hails from Kamog, in Sablan, Benguet just made her debut in amateur MMA.

Manny Cantores of Baguio Central University Team Kafagway relied on his Muay Thai skills to pull off a ground and pound victory against his counterpart.

A Native of Palali, also in Sablan maintained his composure on the ground and rained down vicious punches till blood sprung on his opponent head, forcing the referee to stop the bout.

Junrey Wageyen of Quezon Hill National High School Kafagway Team meanwhile fell short in his amateur MMA debut.

In the BJJ No Gi matches, Xavier Villanueva and Rosemarie Recto were force to tap out when they were caught in an armbar and guillotine choke respectively.

Kafagway MMA was backed by Coach Aris Estino of Sta.
