GROUND works all ready for the first phase of the 22-hectare Davao Global Township, which will rise on the former Davao Golf Club property in Matina.

In a press conference on Friday, March 29, 2019, YHEST Realty and Development Corp. and Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) officials said the first phase of the project, which is estimated to be at P10 billion, will be completed in 2022. This phase will include the construction of the corporate center, two premier residential towers, a retail strip with a cineplex, and outdoor retail spaces.

“I am promising our Dabawenyo partners that we are going to move very fast that is why from a ceremonial groundbreaking to a grand launch happened in a very short amount of time because we want to bring this product to Davao,” CLI EVP and chief operating officer and YHEST director Jose Franco Soberano said.

The Phase 1 of DGT is estimated to have 93,000 square meters of gross floor area.

CLI President Jose Soberano III assured that there will be more trees in the DGT and will be more environmentally sustainable than the former golf course.

“We assure that there will be more trees in DGT than what it has right now. It is a former golf course and we have so much to remember about it. Hopefully, when we look back, we can say that we have done well,” Soberano III said.

He also assured that there will be a large parking space so as not o worsen the traffic situation in the area and bike lanes will also be allotted to Dabawenyos who may want to explore the business center.

“We are very proud to say that 40 percent of the whole development will be dedicated for open spaces for the sake of environment,” Soberano said, adding that they have allotted a generous ratio to conserve the environment.
