PDEA leads 4-day inspection of ports

ROUTINE and random inspections, spearheaded by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Western Visayas operatives, are ongoing to effectively deter and discourage transient drug peddlers from entering Western Visayas.

On March 26, around 9 a.m., PDEA Guimaras Team, led by Investigation Agent Jyxyvzcky G. Escrupolo, together with the PDEA K9 Unit and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Guimaras, conducted joint search and seizure operations at Jordan District Jail male and female dormitories in Barangay Alaguisoc, Jordan, Guimaras.

Around 10:30 a.m. of the same date, the Seaport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (SIDITG) Western Visayas, led by Intel Officer II Joemar A. Polinar, steered random check operations at the PhilPost located at the Bureau of Customs Building on Abuana St., Iloilo City.

The next day, March 27, at past midnight, the PDEA Aklan Office Interdiction Group and K9 Unit, led by Investigation Agent V Christina D. Cabatingan, also conducted random check at the Kalibo International Airport.

Meanwhile, around 11:30 p.m. of the same day, until almost 7 a.m. of March 28, the team conducted another inspection among airport cargoes and passengers.

Further, on March 28, around 9 a.m., SIDITG- Western Visayas, led by PDEA Interdiction Team under Investigation Agent III Ruenell Butch E. Montenegro, conducted random check operation at the Dumangas Port in Barangay Sapaw, Dumangas, Iloilo.

On the same date, at 11:50 p.m. until 7 a.m. of March 29, the PDEA Aklan Office Interdiction Team conducted random check and inspection at the Kalibo International Airport.

PDEA advocacy materials were also distributed to the commuting public during the said activities.
