OVER P3.2 million worth of shabu and marijuana were confiscated and two men were arrested at a checkpoint in Alab Proper, Bontoc, Mountain Province on Sunday morning, March 31.
Arvin Pino Vigilia, 31, laborer, and Jun Rudly Reyes Pascual, 31, unemployed, both from Castillejos, Zambales, were onboard a multi–purpose vehicle traversing the Halsema Highway from Kalinga and traveling to Baguio City when they were stopped at a checkpoint.
Men from the Bontoc Municipal Police Station who inspected the suspects’ vehicle found two sacks containing numerous illegal drugs.
Police confiscated 12 pieces of tubular marijuana, 21 pieces of marijuana bricks, all wrapped with transparent cellophane, five pieces of small sachet containing suspected shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia and one cal .45 with one magazine loaded with seven ammunition.
The marijuana weighed 26 kilograms while the suspected shabu weighed 16.6 grams, with a total Dangerous Drugs Board value of P3.212 million.
Meanwhile, the number 10 high value target of the province of Abra landed in jail after he was arrested in a drug bust in Partelo St., Zone 2, Bangued, Abra Saturday afternoon, March 30.
Bangued police identified the drug suspect as Oscar Pacis Jr., 39, of Bangued, Abra.
Confiscated from his possession were P1,000 cash, P27,000 boodle money, one transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing five grams, and one cellular phone.
Vigilia and Pascual are facing charges of violation of R.A. 9165 known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 as amended by R.A. 10640 and violation of R.A. 10591 in relation to Comelec Resolution 10446 (Comelec gun ban) while Pacis was charged for violation of R.A. 9165.
Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim Dickson, Police Regional Office – ordillera director, said the continuous apprehensions of drug pushers is a stern warning to all other persons involved in illegal drugs that PRO-Cor will not cease its relentless campaign to rid Cordillera of drug menace.
Dickson also ordered his men to maintain police visibility at all times as a deterrent to illegal drug activities in the region. (Jonathan Llanes)
