Mendoza: First step to become better

STARTING today, Monday, April 1 until Friday, April 5, all public schools in the country will conduct their Graduation/Moving Up Ceremonies.

For my column today, I would like dedicate this piece to all the graduates of Batch 2018-2019 especially to my own children who are both proud products of this batch. I hope that you will continue to be inspired to reach further stages of your lives and become the best version of yourself. This is my message to all:

My salute to Batch 2018-2019 for reaching this far in your life as learners!

This is a decision that you will really not regret in your pursuit of gaining knowledge and skills coupled with values and right attitude towards life as 21st century learners. You are blessed enough to be provided with the K to 12 Curriculum with its four exits - employment, entrepreneurship, middle level skills training or college education - to show you various options after your graduation in the Senior High School.

You may not have a perfect curriculum with complete school buildings and amenities but rest assured that we are trying to address the gaps and will continue to provide you with what you need as our government and our stakeholders are looking for means on how we can improve our services on a monthly, if not daily basis. Issues and concerns will continue to haunt us but with the virtue of patience and positivity which we are trying to live with for years will be our weapons to survive and come out victorious in the end.

You have been witnesses on how our leaders from national to local levels are moving heaven and earth in responding and doing initiatives to further enhance the delivery of the curriculum and make it more relevant to the changing times. Other government agencies are time and again providing the needed technical knowhow on relevant interventions that further cement the total package being offer to our learners through relevant convergence that benefits all sectors involved.

To our respected education leaders and valued teachers, continue to hone our learners’ potentials but always remember to enhance your capacities as well for you cannot give what you do not have.

To our parents, guardians and supporters of providing our learners with the quality education they deserve, may you will not get tired of doing so for learning is a continuous process.

Mabuhay kayong lahat at nawa’y patnubayan kayo ng Diyos ng buhay na puspos ng biyaya magpakailanman!
