CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- At least 5,000 policemen will be deployed in Central Luzon for the entire summer holiday season in operation “Ligtas SumVac 2019.”
Brigadier General Joel Napoleon Coronel, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon director, said the deployment of policemen in thoroughfares will ensure the safety of motorists and hundreds of commuters in going to their destinations.
“I have ordered all city and provincial directors from the different police provincial and city police offices to ensure the safe and secure travel of motorists and commuters this coming Lenten season and summer vacation,” Coronel said.
He said that PRO-Central Luzon has already deployed 5,215 personnel regionwide on March 25.
Coronel said that police presence will be intensified through increased foot and mobile patrols and establishment of police assistance desks and centers (PADs/PACs).
He said that road safety marshals are being deployed in convergence points particularly in bus terminals, airport, seaports and recreational areas including highways, main thoroughfares and crime prone areas to ensure maximum police presence.
“I have instructed all commanders to coordinate with local government units, non-government organizations and other government entities and volunteer groups in establishing PADs/PACs and in deploying road safety marshals for a collaborative and unified delivery of public safety services and assistance,” Coronel said.
He said that criminal elements may take advantage of people converging in places such as beaches and other tourist destinations for relaxation and recreation.
