A taste of international flavors at Misto

WITH the growing tourism industry in Northern Mindanao, several food establishments have emerged to cater the taste buds of foreign visitors.

Hotel restaurants are normally not people’s go to place to dine. The only time they would possibly be eating there is for breakfast (as some restaurants are still closed at early morning) or ordering room service when they’re too tired to go out.

Families usually eat at food establishments situated inside malls, not really thinking of having family dinners at the hotel’s fancy restaurant regardless of their preferred palate.

However, Seda Hotel’s signature restaurant, Misto, is determined to change that - one plate and at a time.

Misto welcomes guests to its modern interiors, a fusion of design and function that combines its multi-faceted character with a range of offerings that will satisfy the palate of both Filipinos and foreign visitors.

The restaurant’s design isn’t the only “fusion” your eyes will be feasted as Misto (Italian word for “mixed”) also offers a medley of authentic international flavors, ranging from universal classics to Filipino favorites.

“We provide options for global travelers to enhance their dining experience. But we also recognize that they value authenticity and will always yearn for the familiarity of traditional flavors,” Seda Centrio’s hotel manager Armand Angeles said, adding that its original recipes appeal to all generations, whether you’re a millennial or centennial.

Misto’s value proposition, he added, is simple: good food with great taste that has universal appeal, many of which are considered “comfort food” that evoke happy memories or provide a feeling of contentment simply because they live up to the clients’ expectations.

“The key is precise timing, plus the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients,” Christopher Ben “Chris” Lugtu, the executive chef of Misto, said.

Misto also prided itself with Chef Chris’ impressive and artistic food presentations, which is just as essential to the success of a dish as its taste and flavor and it’s what tingles the people’s interest in trying the said dish.

That and the onslaught of picture taking and social media postings.

“This is how we give our dishes that personal touch. We stay true to the original recipe, then leave our own imprint by modifying its appearance to enhance its aesthetic appeal,” chef Chris said.

All these fancy talking might make you have second thoughts on having your family dinner, lunch date or business meeting in Misto, especially in terms of expenses. You’re probably thinking of how expensive it is to eat in such quality restaurant.

As such, Misto offers its Executive Set Lunch. For only P499 you can have a three course meal that includes: salad (Caesar Salad), soup (a choice of Aji-spiced Pumpkin or Mushroom soup), and main (a choice of Roasted Peruvian Chicken, Lechon Kawali, Calamansi Fried Chicken, Grilled Tangigue, or Mushroom Risotto).

It’s available every Mondays to Fridays, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“At Misto we give diners a taste of the old and new by blending cooking traditions with modern food presentations to provide an extraordinary dining experience,” Angeles said.
