SELECT female employees of Cagayan de Oro City Hall have been named as Exemplary Women of City Hall as part of the recent celebration of the Women's Month.
The Search for Exemplary Women of City Hall, which was launched last year, is an initiative of the City Hall's Gender and Development Committee, headed by City Accountant Beda Joy Elot, to recognize female employees who excel in their work as public servants.
It aims to acknowledge the importance of female workers not only at City Hall but also in the community.
Out of more than 20 female workers representing different departments of the City Hall, 10 were named exemplary women.
Among the 10 women, the top five received a plaque and cash prize each.
Nanette Aton of the City Improvement Division was recognized as the "Most Exemplary Woman of City Hall" and was given a cash prize of P5,000 and a plaque of recognition.
"Sa ako, ang serbisyo gyud sa kasing-kasing gyud sya, dili lang dinhi sa sulod sa opisina, dapat mo-extend gyud ka sa imong tabang didto sa komunidad. Dili ka mamili sa imong tabangan. Bisag kinsa imong tabangan nga nangihanglan sa imong panabang, tabangan gyud nimo sya. Dili ka magpili kay mao na sya ang insakto nga serbisyo," Aton said.
(For me, public service should come from the heart, it is not just inside the office, you should extend your help to the communities. You should not choose who are you helping. Whoever you wish to help, who are in need, you should help them. You should not be picky because that is the correct way of public service.)
Others in the top five are: Elizabeth Sumabong from City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office as second placer; Rhyselle Bernadette Descallar of City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) as third placer; Ana Liza Biwang of City Public Services Office as fourth placer; and Jaymee Leonen of CSWD as fifth placer.
Each of them received P2,000 cash and a plaque of recognition.
