BATCH ‘98 took the solo lead of Division 1 of the Don Bosco Cup “Is Your Pack the Strongest?” basketball tournament with a 60-44 rout of Batch 2001 on Sunday, March 31, at the Don Bosco Technical College Gym.
Vito Holasca logged a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, along with four steals and a block, to lead Batch ‘98 to back-to-back victories. Alain Donan chipped in 10.
Gam Bas was the lone Batch 2001 player in double figures with 12 markers.
Batch ‘97, Batch ‘99 and Batch ‘91 won their respective season debuts, while Batch ‘94 Bullvets got their first win in the tournament after losing their opener.
Batch ‘97 beat Dos Milenyos, 54-47, led by Giovani Canceko.
Canceko dropped 17 points, grabbed three boards and had two steals for Batch ‘97. Chrissar Llegunas had a double-double for Dos Milenyos with 23 markers and 10 rebounds, along with a steal and a block.
Batch ‘99 squeaked past Batch ‘96.
Haresh Vergara exploded with 27 markers, 12 rebounds, a steal and a block. Steve Nacaua led Batch ‘96 with 14.
Batch ‘91, on the other hand, walked away with a close 61-59 win over InGORious Batches ‘80-’93.
Bonifacio Madrid Jr. led Batch ‘91 with 16 points, while Marc Echevarre added 12. Lito Navarro paced the InGORious Batches ‘80-’93 with 21 markers.
Meanwhile, the trio of Rammel Guimbarda, John Joseph Genson and Wilbert Taborada steered the Bullvets to a 51-49 nail-biting win over Batch 2002-2003.
Guimbarda and Genson scored 13 each, while Wilbert Taborada added 12. Zeus Monsanto had a double-double for Batch 2002-2003 with 10 points and 14 boards. (EKA)
