6.82M in Central Luzon expected to cast votes in May

AT LEAST 6.82 million registered voters in Central Luzon are expected to exercise their rights to choose candidates during the National and Local Elections on May 13, 2019.

Records of the Commission on Elections in Central Luzon (Comelec-3) showed that the number of registered voters for the upcoming elections reached a total of 6,829,751 in the region.

“The region is the third with the most number of registered voters after Calabarzon and Metro Manila. It is about 11 percent of the total voting population of the country,” Comelec-3 Regional Director Jubil S. Surmieda said.

Of the total, Bulacan has the highest number with 1.86 million registered voters followed by Nueva Ecija and Pampanga with 1.46 million each, Tarlac with 838,464, Bataan with 545,507, Zambales with 515,724, and Aurora with 145,617.

“Central Luzon will have a total of 8,654 clustered precincts and 2,834 voting centers,” Surmieda added.

She also disclosed that a total of 3,520 candidates are vying for 1,437 elective posts in the region. The positions up for grabs include 21 district representatives, seven provincial governors, seven provincial vice-governors, 68 provincial board members, 130 city and municipal mayors, 130 city and municipal vice-mayors, and 1,074 city and municipal councilors.
