Tagum, Digos arnisadors shine

TAGUM City and Digos bets dominated the 82nd Araw ng Davao Sports Festival Escrima Kali Arnis Tournament held at Gaisano Grand Citi Mall in Davao City recently.

Tagum collected over 10 gold medals while Digos hauled seven golds in the two-day competition.

Diane Manatad (girls 16-17), Gwyneth Lim (girls 16-17 bantamweight), Van Kyle Nartea (girls 16-17 lightweight), Noah Gonzales (senior openweight), George Neri (boys 16-17 bantamweight), Lailah Amoren (girls 13-15 light heavyweight), Kristine Pagaran (girls 9-10 heavyweight), Zyrel Castillon (children girls seven to eight), Eli Gabriel Pamaybay (boys 11-12 heavyweight), Magdaleno Gonzalos (boys 13-15 flyweight), Darlyn Lamatan (boys nine-10 heavyweight) and Hyeroe Nithan Castillon (boys seven to eight lightweight) collected golds for Tagum.

Digos El Tigre, for its part, leaned on the golden performances of Karen Faith Orate (girls 12 years old), Avygail Anne Abangan (girls 13-15 bantamweight), Reymark Bacalso (boys 13-15 welterweight), Klippel Galeos (boys 16-17 featherweight), Marlowe Adrian Porto (boys 16-17 welterweight) and Chainna Rosauro (girls 16-17 middlweigth). Another Digos player Andrea Pacencia (girls 13-15 welterweigth) also bagged a gold.

Duta-Dujali Talomo’s Quillo-Tipan-Laurencia trio ruled the team sparring boys openweight category B even as Talomo National Hihg School’s Miles Laurencia clinched the boys 13-15 lightweight gold and Davao City National High School’s Van Roi Jimz Bulaso (boys 13-15 bantamweight) also shared top honors.

Prizes were awarded to the winners of the meet sponsored by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office. (MLSA)
