ANTI-NARCOTICS agents in Northern Mindanao arrested a former village councilman of Iligan City and seized over P100,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs in a raid on Wednesday, April 3.
Through a court order, members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Northern Mindanao implemented a search warrant against the suspect identified as Al Daud Cali alias “Dab”, 31, resident of Purok 7, Upper Hinaplanon, Iligan City.
Authorities said the suspect was a former councilor of said barangay and known to be involved in the illegal drug trade in the city.
PDEA-Northern Mindanao also said the suspect is affiliated with the Magandia and Mapandi drug group and number 7 target listed drug personality in Lanao del Norte.
Seized from the suspect’s possession were three sachets of suspected shabu (Methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth around P105,000.
PDEA-Northern Mindanao director Wilkins Villanueva said the suspect was part of the drug list of President Rodrigo Duterte from the region.
“With the onset of political season, the men and women of PDEA-10 will never cease to do our best to keep our communities free from the influence of dangerous drugs, regardless of color and political affiliation,” Villanueva said.
The suspect is now detained at the PDEA jail facility and will face drug charges.
