THE lean Deftac Davao team of Davao City placed third overall after hauling a total of two gold medals, three silvers, and one bronze in the CDO Rollfest Nogi Jiujitsu Tournament held over the weekend at SM Downtown Premier in Cagayan de Oro City (CDO).

Deftac Davao’s golden performers were Adonis Isip Vidanes (white belt under-58 kilograms or kgs) and Ken Gumera (white belt under-64 kgs) while Dwight Lloyd Tallo (purple belt openweight), Jonathan Narisma (blue belt under-88 kgs) and Richard John Romero (white belt under-70 kgs) copped silvers.

Jam Peralta, meanwhile, salvaged a bronze in blue belt under-58 kgs event.

Jonathan Narisma, resident physician of Davao Medical School Foundation Hospital (DMSFH) and a member of Deftac Davao, said, “Hopefully ma-recognize ang team, the sport itself at makilala ang Davao na meron din tayong magagaling na (jiu jitsu) athletes dito.”

The Atos Team finished first overall followed by Kamphius Fabricio Team who took the runner-up honors.

Narisma added, “Kami ang smallest contingent from Davao City. Atos is from CDO, Kamphius is mixed Kidapawan, Davao City, Butuan and CDO.” (MLSA)
