A POLICE official said on Wednesday, April 3, that there are no election hotspots in Angeles City, a highly-urbanized city.
Police Captain Elaine Villasis, public information officer of the Angeles City Police Office, disclosed this during the Talk Widus forum hosted by the Pampanga Press Club in cooperation with Widus Hotel and Casino inside the Clark Freeport.
“Negative [po tayo sa hotspots]. Mababait naman po ang ating mga kandidato (Our candidates are kind),” the police captain said.
The city police is already prepared for the upcoming mid-term elections which will be held on May 13, according to Villasis.
“Naka-prepare na po ang ating kapulisan (Our police is prepared), we have 578 policemen working in Angeles alone. So far, three year continuous na wala pong mga crimes na election-related. Peaceful naman po sa (It’s peaceful in) Angeles City,” Villasis said.
The city police, in connection with the national and local elections, recently conducted “Operation Baklas” to rid the city of illegal campaign materials especially oversized-posters.
Villasis admitted that they failed to confiscate some posters placed in private properties and high buildings.
She however said that the Commission on Elections in Angeles City has notified and warned the concerned candidates.
Local candidates who failed to remove their illegal campaign materials will face charges for violation of the Fair Elections Act, Villasis added.
