SMS Boystown to hold invitational multi-event meet

THE Sisters of Mary School (SMS-Boystown) is inviting young athletes to participate in its first multi-sporting meet dubbed the Aloysian Sports Grassroots Invitational Tournament on May 17 to 19 at the school’s grounds in Tungkop, Minglanilla, Cebu.

The school’s athletic director Van Halen Parmis told SunStar Cebu they have sent invitations to some schools in Cebu for the three-day event supported by the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission.

The event is part of the school’s preparation for upcoming multi-sporting meets like the Batang Pinoy, Municipal Meet and the Cebu School Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) tournament.

“We did this to prepare our athletes in upcoming sporting events. Also it is intended to give our athletes the venue to compete since there’s no Milo Little Olympics for this year,” he said.

Parmis said that they have invited Cesafi teams, schools from Cebu Province, schools in Region 7 and also a couple of schools from Manila.

“We are still waiting for confirmation of the schools. The confirmation of the visiting teams should make the event more interesting,” said Parmis.

The meet will have two age groups--the 16-Under and 12-Under—and both will have the girls’ and boys’ divisions.

The events to be contested are athletics, arnis, basketball, chess, sepak takraw, table tennis, volleyball, football and weightlifting. (RSC)
