Jail officer survives ambush

A JAIL officer was injured after he was shot by two unidentified men on a motorcycle on Burgos-Palanca Streets at the exit area of the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. in Bacolod City Friday, April 5.

Wounded was Jail Officer 1 Jayvee Jayson Vargas, 27, of Barangay Handumanan. He is assigned at Metro Bacolod District Jail - male dormitory annex in the said village.

Investigation showed that the victim and his sister Yvette Joy Vargas, 22, were on board a red pickup truck on their way home at 3:30 p.m. when the assailants ridded their vehicle with bullets.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound on his right forearm while his sister was unharmed.

The injured victim was able to rush himself to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Police have yet to determine the motive. (GYM)
