Law enforcers vow to uphold human rights

LAW enforcement agencies led by the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the Cordillera vowed to continually uphold observance of human rights.

The declaration came even when these agencies have been accused of violating human rights.

In a statement, the PDEA, PNP and AFP said they will always respect human rights.

“The primary function of these organizations is to protect any individual from violence and abuse, prevent and suppress crime and not to inflict fear and violence in the community.”

These agencies guaranteed that if its personnel are found violating basic rights, legal consequences will be imposed on them. (Rimaliza Opiña)
