THE term of reference (TOR) for the rehabilitation of the Asin Hydro mini power plants is being readied, the mayor said.
Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. said the basis for the drafting the TOR is the study undertaken by a team from the Czech Republic.
Three companies have already signified interest in managing the hydro plants, the mayor said.
In a news briefing, Benguet Electric Cooperative (Beneco) General Manager Gerardo Verzosa said using hydro electric energy as alternative source of power might help lessen the increasing price of electricity.
Beneco has identified three sites of hydro electric power plants, one in Buguias and two in Tuba.
In an earlier Sun.Star report, Verzosa was quoted as saying that the Department of Energy has allowed the conduct of a feasibility study of the potential of these plants to produce the required amount of electric power.
Power is reportedly sold at a lower cost from that of independent power producers and the National Power Corporation.
The City Government on the other hand is eyeing solar energy as alternative.
