Custodio: The good life

Custodio: The good life

SO, MY sister’s fortieth day was last Thursday, April 4. I woke at 6am and was crying by 6:03 a.m. Needless to say, I was weepy most of the day, as expected. My morning started with a post how much I missed her and how I was also happy that she has returned to the arms of God. Like I said in my past, the tears are for those left behind. I’m pretty sure my sister is in a much better place now.

In moments when I am confronted with mortality and how life can be fleeting, I find myself acknowledging the importance in always trying to put your best foot forward in life. It has crossed my mind several times how important it is to live a good and purposeful life. Quite honestly, I am in awe of how my sister lived hers; it seemed like she has touched so many lives I am just over the moon proud of her!

So, this is not about sadness and grief. This is about leading a good life. It is not the kind of life rich in material possessions but one that entails living a meaningful life with your head filled with worthwhile memories, your heart full of love and your soul happy beyond measure. Sometimes we lose sight of the things that matter because we spend too much time focusing on the things that we want rather than what we need. Sometimes we fall between the cracks and find ourselves wondering what got us there in the first place.

Retrace, refocus then redo your life according to what is good for you so that by doing such, all the goodness that comes as a result will benefit others too!

Retrace. Yes there are times when we need to be reminded of the good things and the worthwhile lessons that life has taught us. We forget guys, we really do. The good old days and ways will help us remember! It would then be easier to refocus our sights to what really matters to us. We do lose our way sometimes but then there is also something good that comes from that, lessons that are valuable enough to help us go on with life better equipped to face future challenges.

Do we really need to redo our lives? Maybe not. Maybe all we need is to adjust for best results! If we make it habit to recalibrate our lives so that it is best lived, then at some point, when we are old and gray, we will be able to relive it with smiles on our faces and our hearts filled with appreciation and gratitude.

Happy Sunday Everyone!
