Gun ban violators, ‘drug pusher’ arrested

THREE gun ban violators and illegal drug pushers were arrested by the Police Regional Office Cordillera in separate operations.

On April 8, two motorcycle riders were nabbed at a Commission on Elections (Comelec) checkpoint in Bacsil-Anggad, Bangued, Abra.

Jonnel Millare De Mesa, 26, of Bangued, and Hershel Haboy Sianen were flagged down by the joint members of the Regional Maneuver Force Battalion (RMFB) 15 and Bangued Municipal Police Station.

During the inspection, police noticed the protruding handgrip of a pistol tucked in the waist of Sianen.

Seized from Sianen were a cal. 45 and nine ammunition.

A case for violation of RA 10591, or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law, and additional case for violation of Comelec Resolution No. 10249 was filed against De Mesa and Sianen.

Meanwhile, a purchaser for a restaurant in Baguio City was arrested in a drug bust along Gen. De Jesus St., South Central, Aurora Hill in the morning of April 6.

The alleged drug pusher identified as Aurelio Villacorta De Guzman Jr., 43, was arrested by the joint personnel of Police Station 6, Baguio City Police Office and members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera (PDEA-CAR).

Confiscated from De Guzman was one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, P1,000 boodle money, cash amounting to P27,800, a cellular phone and drug paraphernalia.

A case for violation of RA 9165, known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, was filed by the police against De Guzman.
