Motoomull: Who's most important? – God

THIS particular topic is timely especially we will be observing next week, the Holy Week. Because sometimes, we forget who’s most important - God - when we have so much pressure at work, at school or with friends and family.

At any time of the day or night, we can speak to our Almighty God. And the Bible says God hears us. Though most of us need to be reminded every time that prayer is the most amazing form of communication there is.

We may ask ourselves, “How can I improve in my prayers?”

First. Let’s identify the obstacle. What particular aspect prayer is most challenging to you? Write your answer _________________________________.

Our next step is to create a goal. Below, check a goal that you would like to meet or write one on the line next to “Other.”

_____I would like to pray more often.

_____I would like to make my prayers more varied.

_____I would like to make my prayers more heartfelt.

_____Other _________________________________.

And the last step is unlocking the door so that we can achieve our goal. Prayer is like a door that we can open at anytime. However, many of us would say that we do not open the door so frequently or as freely as we should. If that’s so in your case, don’t give up! You’ve already identified the obstacle and set a goal. Now, you just need a key to unlock the door. Consider some obstacles that you might face along with suggestions on how to overcome them.

*The lock: embarrassment - I get embarrassed when I think what my associates will say if they see me praying. The key: there is a right time for everything we do. Suggestion: Discreet silent prayer can attract favorable notice. You don’t have to make a public spectacle of your prayers.

*The lock: doubt - Once when I prayed about a problem, it didn’t go away. In fact, more problems arose. I thought, why pray anymore. The key: Along with the temptation, God will also make the way out for you to endure it. Suggestion: One thing is certain that God hears our prayers.

*The lock: Feelings of unworthiness - God knows about my problems already. And if I’m fed up with them, I feel that He probably is, too. I just don’t feel worthy to talk to Him sometimes. The key: Throw all your anxiety upon God because He cares for you. Suggestion: God is near to those that are broken at heart and those who are crushed in spirit. The very fact that God hears your prayers says something about His interest in you. Obviously, since he personally listens to our prayers, He must consider them important.

Therefore, the lock like neglect, distraction, routine or whatever, there will always be the key and suggestion to solve them.

Before, I’ve always felt that it was wrong to express my emotions. The privilege of prayer has helped me to realize that it’s okay to be happy, sad, confused, so forth and to express these feelings to God. Now, I’m able to handle my emotions in a more healthy, productive manner. Like me, what positive qualities have you acquired through your prayers?
