SENATORIAL candidate Zajid “Dong” Mangudadatu wants to break the barrier dividing the Catholic and Muslim people, and promote cultural unity as one Filipino nation instead.

During the visit of Mangudadatu’s wife Geraldine in Candaba town recently, she shared the former’s P.E.A.C.E. advocacy which stands for Prosperity, Education, Agriculture, Cultural Unity and Energy.

Geraldine said that her husband, who is a long-time leader in Mindanao, sees cultural unity as a key to bringing true and inclusive progress to the Filipino nation.

She stressed that if cultural unity reigns in the country, it will allow the country to quickly advance towards a better future as people unite regardless of race, beliefs and language.

“One of the advocacies of Dong Mangudadatu is to break the barrier between the Christian and Muslim people because he wants to emancipate and change the perception of Christians to the Muslim brothers and sisters,” Geraldine said.

Mangudadatu believes that lack of cultural unity hampers the country’s development as religious beliefs, ethnicity and dialect causes division among the Filipino people, Geraldine said.

“My husband’s belief is when Filipino people come together as one nation, our country will progress quicker and easier and we can create a community where love and peace reign,” Geraldine added.

Mangudadatu, ncumbent representative of Maguindanao province’s second district, is running under President Rodrigo Duterte’s PDP-LABAN party and presidential daughter Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago regional party.
