PDEA nets biggest shabu haul in Cordillera

TWO alleged big-time drug personalities were collared by anti–narcotics agents in a drug bust on April 8 in Baguio City.

Joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) offices of Benguet, Mt. Province, Apayao, Baguio City, and Baguio City Police Office Station I led by Charlton John Carame arrested Daniel Tan Cole and a certain “Rachel” in Barangay San Luis.

Authorities seized from the duo 33 grams of suspected shabu worth P224,000 as well as a sports utility vehicle during the operation.

Cole, a drug surrenderer of Tuba Municipal Police Station, is believed to be the leader of a drug syndicate operating in Baguio City, according to the PDEA.

He and Rachel, who also once surrendered to BCPO Station 2, will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

During the first quarter meeting of the Regional Development Council, it was reported that the average price of shabu as of February 2019 within the region is P6,250 per gram and P21,062 per bulto while the average price of marijuana in the region during the said period was P125 per gram and P7,666 per kilo.

PDEA said that in the first three months of this year, there were 168 suspected drug personalities on their list.
