Cops warn biz owners of acetylene gang

THE Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) has urged business establishments like banks and pawnshops to inspect their buildings to safeguard the buildings from burglars who use acetylene and other materials to destroy the interiors.

Police Col. Julian Entoma, the MCPO director, reminded the establishments not to lower their guard as Holy Week draws near. Public and private workers will have no work for the observance of Holy Thursday and Good Friday. He said members of the acetylene gang recently hit some establishments in Metro Manila.

Security teams of banks and pawnshops must check if their establishments are near the culverts or stand beside apartments.

“This is a difficult modus. Even if there is a guard outside the establishment, the burglars can still go inside. That’s why they should always be alert,” Entoma said. (From FMD of SuperBalita Cebu, KAL)
