Consolacion’s comeback means bad news for Sogod

THE Consolacion Sarok Weavers vented their ire on Sogod, pulling off a dominating 98-79 win to start the playoffs on a winning note in the 2019 Governor’s Cup Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament at the Tuburan Municipal Gym on Wednesday night, April 10.

The Sarok Weavers bounced back from back-to-back losses to district rival Mandaue City with the emphatic win over Sogod in their first game in the second round.

Brevin Keith Padayogdog was the brightest star for the Sarok Weavers, exploding for a game-high 29 points with 10 scored in the third quarter to help his team carry a commanding 70-55 edge going to the payoff period.

Jessie Bathan canned in 17 points while Mariano Maglasang handed 11 for the winning team.

The rest of the games in the Bracket B ended up in blowouts as the Minglanilla Archangels slammed Tabuelan, 95-69, while Tuburan routed Alegria, 98-75.

Elsewhere, Mandaue City continued its winning ways after downing Danao City, 76-69, in Bracket A at the Dumanjug Municipal Gym.

The University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Green Lancer guard Gabriel Cometa dropped 16 points to pace Mandaue City anew, while Archie Buscay added 15 to provide the needed support.

In the other games, Medellin beat Samboan, 90-59, and Balamban sneaked past the home team Dumanjug, 77-71. (RSC)
