City conducts probe into video of man bathing in BCG fountain

THE City Government of Bacolod is conducting an investigation on a viral video that shows a man taking a bath in the fountain area of the Bacolod Government Center (BGC).

Executive Assistant Samuel Montoyo, member of Anti-Red Tape core team, said Thursday, April 11, they are gathering data to identify the man who was taking a bath in the fountain area of BGC using a plastic container on April 10.

"It is with malice and premeditated," he said.

He added the man who took the video and posted it on social media was already identified as Shane Destua, a call center agent.

Montoyo noted that he has seen the viral video on Wednesday, April 10.

"Destua acted as the director, while his companion was an actor. This is highly scandalous and they put Bacolod in a bad light," Montoyo said.

He said they will refer the case to the City Legal Office and to file alarm and scandal complaint against the suspects.

For his part, Executive assistant Celestino Guara, cluster head on peace and order, said on Wednesday morning, the Public Order and Safety Office (Poso) personnel assigned in the area saw two unidentified men who attempted to get water in the fountain.

"When they saw our Poso guards, they ran towards their vehicle and escaped," he said.

After an hour, the two men returned and one them took a bath in the fountain area, Guara added.

In 2017, four minors also attempted to put janitor fish in the fountain area of the BGC.

The Poso guards cornered one of the minors and turned him over to the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) and the WCPD.

In 2017, the City Government released about 1,000 Japenese koi fish into the fountain.

Guara also directed the Poso guards to intensify their patrol at the BGC grounds.
